The Biscar Fire, which ignited just before noon on Saturday northeast of Susanville, has burned 58,878 acres as of Tuesday morning, according to Watch Duty. The blaze is at 5% containment, and it is the largest fire in the state this year to date.
Officials have issued evacuation orders for parts of Lassen County, and the latest information can be found on the Facebook page for the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office. Evacuation warnings were also issued in Washoe County, Nevada.
Fierce winds have pushed the fire eastward across Highway 395 and across the Nevada border, the SierraDailyNews.com reported. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management, the main agency with jurisdiction of the Biscar Fire, did not respond to SFGATE’s additional questions about the fire behavior.
