PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Follow all fire restrictions. You can find your county`s emergency
sign up form as well as links to fire restrictions at
weather.gov/medford/wildfire. One less spark, one less wildfire.

Be sure you`re signed up for your county`s emergency alert system.
Familiarize yourself with your emergency plan and make sure you
listen to emergency services. Visit ready.gov/plan for more
information.

A red flag warning is issued when we identify weather conditions
that promote rapid spread of fire which may become life-threatening.
This does not mean there is a fire. These conditions are either
occurring now or will begin soon. It is important to have multiple
ways to receive information from authorities.

If you have not packed your evacuation kit yet, now is the time
to do so. This includes items like important documents and
essentials you cannot live without. Fill your vehicle`s fuel
tank. Visit ready.gov/kit for more information.

Plan now to avoid using equipment that could cause sparks during
the period when critical weather conditions are possible. Visit
weather.gov/medford/wildfire for links to fire restrictions in
your area.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are possible during the valid watch time. These conditions could

possible upgrade of the this watch to a Red Flag Warning.

Fire weather advisory late in the week

Weather West Mod2 hours ago edited

Increasing risk of some potential dry lightning across central/northern CA heading into the coming weekend, coupled with another major/prolonged (though probably not extreme) heatwave. This will lead to greatly increased fire risk/behavior once again, with a combination of new lightning starts and aggressive plume-dominated fire activity (including pyroCbs again and all that entails). I would expect several major blow-ups on the Park Fire and Borel Fire in the coming days, and it could be come a “daily” thing as it did on the Dixie a couple of years back

Park Fire: 360,000 acres, 12% containment

Per Daniel Swain at weatherwest.com: Park Fire is again gaining a pretty good heat signature on its eastern and northeastern flanks, and looks like it’s getting ready to throw a couple of pyroCu (though probably not pyroCb–not unstable enough) again this PM (some of this activity has apparently spotted across Hwy 32 recently). Yesterday was probably the best fire weather day we’re going to see for quite some time (potentially 10-14+ days). Today’s weather is still relatively favorable (cooler than average and not that windy), but temperatures and winds will both increase slowly through Wed and then heat will continue to increase thereafter for the foreseeable future, with a prolonged heatwave likely throughout the fire zone by early Aug. Hopefully crews can make a lot of progress along the western and southern flanks (as well as southeastern and northern portion near imminently threatened communities) in the next 24-48 hours before the weather really starts pushing this again aggressively in a few days.

Situation Summary

Lower temperatures and higher humidity have reduced fire activity. Fire continues to progress through multiple drainages.

The fire is burning in grass, brush, mixed timber, and dead vegetation.

Damage inspection teams are working to identify structures that have been damaged or destroyed. Preliminary Aerial Structure Assessment showed over 100 structures impacted. Now Damage Inspection (DINS) is on the ground and have confirmed 20 structures have been destroyed. These numbers will fluctuate over the coming days as they asses the damage.
