McFarland Fire at 600 acres+

Per KRCR: WILDWOOD, Calif. — UPDATE, JULY 30, 3 PM:

The McFarland Fire, burning south of Wildwood along the Shasta and Trinity counties line, has grown to 300 acres, according to US Forest Services officials with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

USFS officials said the fire is currently burning dry, low elevation fuels.

“It’s just so dry. Really dry,” explained USFS Public Information Officer Adrienne Freeman. “When we’re seeing these fires just really show rapid rates of spread across the board in California, it’s due to the dry conditions.”

Earlier Friday, the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) issued an evacuation warning for the Trinity County town of Wildwood as the fire burns nearby.

USFS says no further evacuation warnings or closures have been issued.

CA Scanner reports 600 to 650 acres plus there is hail in that area that is causing the air operations to stop temporarily.
