Caldor fire in WUI in Tahoe; damage unknown

Weather WestMod • 23 minutes ago

Info a bit spotty on Caldor Fire today, but sounds like things are now heating up again around Echo Summit and some structures are now burning. Radar does suggest an increase in fire activity in that area right now. S/SW winds have recently picked up and I would not be surprised to see significant spotting issues over the next few hours. Meanwhile, the eastern flank of the fire now appears to be threatening Heavenly and Stateline/Kingsbury directly (though, again, there is a lot less info coming out today vs. yesterday).

Fire enters Tahoe WUI

Daniel Swain@Weather_WestUnfortunately, it now appears that fire has entered the WUI in Christmas Valley & near southern edge of Meyers. This was the reason for the mass evacuations from southern Tahoe Basin earlier today. SWly winds next 24 hrs could push fire through populated areas. #CAwx#CAfire

NOTE: There are now unconfirmed reports of structure fires in Kirkwood.
