Thunderstorms and strong winds, including pea-sized hail, is forecasted to be moving towards the McKinney Fire. Fire crews in the area are prepared to defend homes and properties, said authorities.
Jackson Wellsprings, near Ashland, is offering showers, WiFi and free camping to PCT hikers evacuated by trail closures due to fire, until Aug. 7, according to Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest.
Highway 96 remains closed in the same section. Highway 3 remains open, according to California Department of Transportation.

Red flag warning issued for Siskiyou County for abundant lightning on dry fuels remains in effect until 11pm.
