Redding, Shasta County — The Shasta Trinity National Forest firefighters are currently battling eight lightning fires with five of them contained.
Evacuation orders have been issued for State Route 36 at Wildwood Road, heading north for 10 miles. There are also evacuation warnings for Big Bar and Del Loma on both sides of the Trinity River.
Public Affairs Officer Adrienne Freeman told KRCR the 2 fires they are most concerned about at this time are the McFarland Fire which is 5 percent contained and the Monument Fire with no containment.
She said the Monument Fire is burning along Highway 299 at about 1,000 acres as of Sunday morning.
The McFarland Fire is burning south of Highway 36 near Wildwood. As of this morning, the fire has burned 2,100 acres.
