Elevated fire conditions possible Sunday and Monday

Thunderstorms and dry lightning looking increasingly likely Sun into Mon. Probably won’t be as extreme as last year’s event, and recent drizzly marine layer will greatly mitigate fire risk along immediate coast, but OTOH vegetation inland is much drier than last year (record dry, in fact) and even a low level of dry lightning is of great concern.

Dixie Fire near site of deadly Camp Fire, now at 500 acres, 0% containment

From KRCR: The Dixie Fire burning near Jarbo Gap in the Feather River Canyon has grown to 500 acres and is 0% contained, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze broke out Tuesday evening in the same area where the devastating 2018 Camp Fire broke out.

UPDATE, JULY 14, 5 AM:

The Dixie Fire has burned 60 acres as of Wednesday morning. There is no containment. The fire is burning in the Feather River Canyon, five miles northeast of Concow, 9 miles northeast of Magalia, and 10 miles northeast of Paradise. There are no evacuation warnings.

The fire is burning in the area where the Camp Fire started in November 2018.

It has been mapped at 357 acres this morning and is now 90% contained. Aerial resources were critical in supporting firefighters with containment yesterday. This support allowed firefighters and bulldozers to make good progress while working through the night to get line around the fire. For your safety and the safety of fire personnel, please continue to avoid the fire area, as firefighters are still actively working to contain the fire.

Bradley Fire at 50 acres

Per the Mount Shasta Herald:

The Bradley Fire, which started Sunday near east of McCloud near Bigelow Road, is estimated to be 40 to 50 acres, and moving to the northeast, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire is “burning actively in timber with a moderate to high rate of speed,” the Forest Service said in a Facebook update about the incident.

Multiple resources are on scene or are responding, the Forest Service said, and air tankers and helicopters are being utilized to support firefighters on the ground.

Additional resources have been ordered, the Forest Service added.

Bootleg Fire in E. Oregon poses significant threat to power grid

This is an absolute monster of a fire, now about 138,000 acres with over 40 spots showing heat radiance that breaks the scale on the satellite monitoring equipment.
