OROVILLE, Calif. — When fire danger draws near, fire personnel alert the community through social media, KRCR alerts you on-air and online, and now in Butte County, there’s a new way to stay in the know just by driving down the street.
CAL FIRE unveiled 42 new red flags that will be dispersed amongst 21 Butte County fire stations Wednesday. In the most literal sense possible, the red flags, printed with the words “fire danger,” will indicate when a red flag warning is in effect.
Take the temperatures with a grain of salt, but it’s going to be very hot, and fire conditions will be critical.
