More Trinity Co. evacuations as Knob Fire grows to 750 acres

SALYER, Calif. — Evacuations orders and warnings have been issued for the Trinity County community of Salyer as the Knob Fire burns nearby.

The Knob Fire grew to 764 acres overnight with no reported containment.

At 2 p.m., a mandatory evacuation order was issued for all of South Fork Road south of Highway 299. The rest of Salyer was placed under evacuation order Tuesday morning. That warning covers all areas east of the Humboldt/ Trinity County line through Salyer, according to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.

Mandatory evacuations orders are in place for areas of Humboldt County west of Salyer and south of Willow Creek.

An evacuation center previously in place for the Monument Fire has been moved from Willow Creek to McKinleyville.
